THE BAND / THE ALBUMPOSTCULTURE is JON BATTYE (drums), MATT GLOVER (bass) and TOM BATTYE (guitar/electronics). Founded January 2014 in HD9, West Yorkshire. Brothers Jon & Tom have been writing and recording music together for over 10 years. After meeting at school, Matt & Tom have played in numerous bands together, most notably Leeds-based, Disfracture.
Recording began for this debut album circa May 2014. Originally intended as an EP, intermittently and haphazardly new tracks amounted and by December, there was an albums-worth of instrumental material recorded. The process of finding collaborators began early 2015 through a combination of band improvisations and cross-county writing sessions.. Online video diaries provide snippets of the recording process, the final session of which was captured at the beginning of October 2015. Postculture have had valuable aid from friends and family. However it is the time invested by recording & mixing engineer, Reuben Duckering - on this, his first album - which deserves most praise. << Full credits >> THE GUESTSADAM TAYLOR soundcloud
Showing astounding versatility on his debut release as a vocalist, Adam Taylor (an otherwise seasoned drummer and songwriter) brings vitality - and hooks galore - to the unashamed pop of both 'The Start' and 'Nobody Else'. A change of pace on 'Feel The Same' allows a deeper expression of melodic sensibilities with poignant results. ANNA SHOTTER Initially lending her voice to the languid summer single 'Sunsound', Huddersfield's own Anna Shotter returns to give an ethereal delicacy on musically brooding 'Surfacing'. A striking ability to segue light with dark gives depth and an affecting ambiguity to both songs. FELKA soundcloud Tanisha Badman & Rose Wheeler are one of West Yorkshire's most exciting singer-songwriter duos. Blown away by songwriting finesse, impeccable harmonies and passionate storytelling within their music, a collaboration had to happen! Invigorating 'The Start' and 'Nobody Else' - albeit in supporting roles - their feature 'A New Day' steps the album up a gear. OKRA LA PRY soundcloud Cumbrian based DJ/producer Okra La Pry cut his teeth on the emerging deep-electronic scene in Leeds back in 2010. He now runs his own record label and collective, Gray Wulfe Projects. 'Smoothvibe' is one extract from a number of improvisations captured live in HD9 between 2014 and 2015. LEO TRANSIT soundcloud Despite collaborations extending back several years, Leo Transit - alias of South Yorkshire based singer-songwriter Sam Jones - would in fact be the last contributor to the album. His effortlessly warm tone holds together the funk-rock inflected album closer, 'My Own Worst Enemy'. #PCFAMILYThe #PCFAMILY is a network of like-minded musicians & artists, currently centred around West Yorkshire.
