PREMAURA & POSTCULTURE are emerging artists from Yorkshire who have attracted support from BBC Introducing and ITV Calendar.

New single CALL MY NAME continues where previous collaborations BACK TO BASICS and INDIGO began. Complimenting each's sound with dynamic interplay, when the Postculture boys begin aggressively, Premaura provides contrast with effortless cool, luring the listener toward a first mellifluous cry of "call my name".  A spell has been cast and on cue an anthemic pulse emerges giving her trademark soulful voice space to soar and soar and soar . . .

"We lift each other up," says Premaura. "For me music is about being in service for the greater good of humanity. I want to promote connection and community.”

"Was it prophecy?" Tom asks of their previous single, Back To Basics.  Within a year of its release, society had done just that with the 2020 pandemic stopping business-as-usual for us all.  "We're blessed to have had a roof over our head and family to spend lockdowns with; two basics that shouldn't be taken for granted.  However the 'basic' I'd not considered losing was the ability to make music with others.  Incredible effort from lots of people has always been involved in getting live music heard but we've lived through a time when it's all been literally impossible to do.  Luckily we're living in an age where musicians have an outlet online to continue reaching people, as for many, their day-to-day livelihood has been temporarily obliterated.  It's also never been easier to support your favourite artists - when they need it most - so this we are thankful for!"

At the time of writing, lockdowns continue to interrupt Tom, Matt and Jonny's ability to make music together.  With the uncertainty of travelling extending beyond this year, Postculture are working towards streaming gigs, rehearsals and "much more" from #pchq - their rehearsal space hidden away in the hills of Holmfirth.

2021 is set to be an exciting year for Premaura with the support of Frank (Kycker), Scott (Come Play With Me & Clue Records), Simon Rix (Kaiser Chiefs), Whiskas (ex- Dance To The Radio), Music:Leeds and Launchpad. She is receiving funding and mentorship and has growing industry support from Playlist Curators, Babysteps Magazine, Hoxton Radio, Bradford Council, Bradford Producing Hub, The Telegraph & Argus and more.

"Until we can enjoy music together once again," urges the band "turn your speakers to the max and enjoy Call My Name.  A song ten years in the making but that's a story for another time. . ."

FAQs

  • PREMAURA followed her initial two Postculture collaborations with three singles in 2020.  A vibrant presence, she exemplifies the spirit of Cosmic Femininity - a high energy soul who infuses passion and authenticity in life and art alike.

  • POSTCULTURE self-identify as "three burly boys with wicked senses of humour" — alas both these claims are heavily disputed.  In reality they are Tom Battye (guitars, electronics) Matt Glover (bass, dance moves) Jonny Battye (drums, percussion).  They've been shocking crowds otherwise-expecting an indie guitar trio since 2015 with live electronic loops and a bass-heavy amalgam of dance and rock.

  • PREMAURA & POSTCULTURE met as performers on the bill at a Sheffield Black Music Matters show in 2017.  It was love-at-first-listen and has led to three collaborations alongside several exclusive appearances together on stage.

  • BUT NO VISUALS?  Due to lockdown regulations the band have self-produced a video from in-studio footage — coming in June!
